We are off to watch the Lobo's play in the Mountain West Tournament

We are again staying the he Alexis Park Resort Hotel. It is the largest off-strip Non-gaming resort in Las Vegas and just a mile from Thomas & Mack Basketball arena.
The first evening we e attended a Tribute to Neil Diamond
The "King of Diamonds" is an ultimate Tribute to Neil Diamond in Las Vegas. "King of Diamonds" features a live band and is the closest thing to seeing the real Neil Diamond as you can find anywhere; and is Las Vegas’ only Neil Diamond Tribute show. In early 2018, Diamond announced his retirement from performing due to being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Rob Garrett as Neil Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be preserved for audiences worldwide through longtime Las Vegas performer Rob Garrett, who is generally regarded as “Diamond’s most renowned tribute act”. Like his legendary counterpart, Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY. In 1974 his family moved him from New York City to Las Vegas, where he later saw Diamond live when he made his attendance breaking Las Vegas debut for the opening of the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” (now Zappos Theater) in July of 1976. Garrett went on the see Diamond yet another 16 times – right up to his last concert in the USA. In 1980, he formed his band, “Rock n Roll Heaven.” He had a very successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and around the country before deciding to make the transition from being the front man of a cover band to a tribute artist of one of his all-time boyhood musical idols. In 1995, Garrett was personally hired by Paul Revere (leader/founder of “the Raiders”) to portray Neil Diamond in the “Legends In Concert” show in Honolulu, Hawaii, the city’s biggest theatrical show and the worlds most popular celebrity impersonator review. What was to be a two-month ‘trial” engagement for Garrett ended up being a three-year run. In August of 1998, Garrett returned home to Las Vegas. He continued to perform intermittently with “Legends” for another 2 years before deciding to go off on his own and create his own Neil Diamond tribute show. Since then, he has maintained a steady tour schedule while accumulating a loyal following to whom he is known worldwide as the ‘King of Diamonds”. As he enters his 28th year paying tribute to the now retired Diamond, it has been said that arguably no other tribute act is as identified with the artist he or she emulates more so than Garrett – who has performed his show at more venues in Las Vegas than any other tribute artist. What makes Rob Garrett the best in the business is his passion, dedication, and reverence for Diamonds prolific library of music and how he believes the legacy of one of popular music’s most beloved icons should be remembered. “Since he announced his retirement, I feel more of a sense of obligation when performing my show, a good obligation, but still an obligation for me,” Garrett said. “To me, it’s something I never get tired of doing and I intend to keep his legacy going. There’s a lot of people that never got the opportunity to see him live and wish they had.”

Bellagio Resort Gardens

We had time the final day of our trip as our plane did not leave Las Vegas until 9:3 PM so we drove over to the Bellagio to view the gardens. The Bellagio contains a 13,500 sq. ft. conservatory and botanical gardens. the gardens are located next to the hotel's lobby and is open free to the public. The gardens receives an average of 20,000 visitors daily. The Conservatory was originally planned as an outdoor garden. There are five seasonal themes that the Conservatory undergoes: Chinese New Year, spring, summer, fall, and winter. From January to mid-March, the Conservatory celebrates the Chinese New Year with a display dominated by flowers bromeliads and orchids, as well as the animal of that particular year that the Chinese zodiac celebrates. The theme then changes over to the spring display, which lasts until May, and usually features a butterfly house as well as many varieties of tropical flowers. Las Vegas’ premier exhibition venue, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA), presents exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and works on paper by the world’s most influential artists. Since we won the Mountain West Tournament we spent time in the Bellagio Sports Bar watching for who and where we would play in the NCAA tournament. We were selected to play in Memphis against the Clemson Tigers. Diana picked up her phone an immediately looked up flight for SouthWest Airlines and there were no flights available. She looked at America Airlines and each ticket was $1000.00 Once back in Albuquerque we found a Lobo bus that was heading to Memphis to support the Lobos. It was a (1,008 miles) 17 hour trip one way but well worth it to support the Lobos. The leader of the group was able to pick up basketball games and display on the TV on the bus which made the time go much faster.

After arriving in Memphis we attended the Pep rally before the game
